What Does Proton Mean?

A proton is an elementary positively charged particle of an atom. It is a component present within all atomic nuclei. Protons are the lightest and most stable component of an atom. The numbers of protons in an element’s nucleus determine the atomic number of the element. This atomic number is the identifying characteristic of any element.
