What Does Remote Data Analysis Mean?

Remote data analysis refers to the collection and processing of corrosion related properties from a substrate's surface or equipment from a distance. Data collection tools are installed once on the equipment to be monitored and signals are then periodically transmitted to another location for review.

Typically, remote data analysis systems provide:

  • A graphical user interface for data entry

  • A reporting tool for analysis of the data

Remote data analysis software began to be widely used in the 1980s on portable computers with attached modems.
