What Does
Impact Fatigue Mean?
Impact fatigue is a condition that occurs when a component undergoes repeated collisions resulting in cracks and eventual damage. Impact fatigue is often accompanied by an unusually high ultimate tensile strength and ductile–brittle transition temperature.
Corrosionpedia Explains Impact Fatigue
Impact fatigue occurs when a progressive strain-rate is achieved; this rate is set at about 103 s−1. This rate is higher than the corresponding strain-rate of conventional fatigue, given the same stress level and material.
