Azobenzene

What Does Azobenzene Mean?

Azobenzene is an insoluble powder generated from the chemical decomposition of nitrobenzene. It is a synthetic crystalline organic compound with the chemical formula C6H5N=NC6H5.

Azobenzene is applied as a corrosion inhibitor on carbon steel in the presence of sodium chloride, water and dioxane. The use of this combination of substances to inhibit corrosion is referred to as the Williamson etherification method.
