Thixotropic resins are mainly used for decorative paints and primers, as well as in corrosion protection coatings. Thixotropic alkyd resins prevent the formation of precipitation, improve brushability and reduce the sagging of paints on vertical surfaces, edges and corners.

Thixotropic coatings are frequently used in corrosion protection because the required layer thickness and good edge covering can be achieved with a small number of layers. Thixotropic coating is designed for protection during storage and transport of finely machined metal surfaces, such as:

  • Dies/molds
  • Spare parts
  • Machines

Thixotropic corrosion protection can be used for the protection of aircraft aluminum surfaces, and also protects under tropical climate and marine conditions. Special advantages include excellent weather resistance and gloss retention.
