Dr. Mike O’Donoghue is the Director of Engineering and Technical Services for AkzoNobel Coatings Ltd. (Canada). He has a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Surrey, England.
Mike is a co-developer of an anti-slip coating system for structural steel and an internal secondary containment system for Above Ground Storage tanks.
The US Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) in 2008 named Mike as one of the protective coating Industry’s top 25 leaders and thinkers of the past 25 years. He is the recipient of a Clive H. Hare Honours Award.
With more than 30 years of experience in the protective coatings industry, Mike and his co-author Vijay Datta have authored over 70 research papers, articles and conference papers for chemical, marine and industrial publications. Six papers won SSPC’s Outstanding Publication Awards and five won SSPC’s Editors Awards in the Journal of Protective Coatings and Linings
Mike is a member of the American Chemical Society, NACE International and SSPC.
