Decouplers are commonly used to isolate cathodically protected structures from other grounded systems, enhancing the cathodic protection system’s performance. They also perform a function of safely grounding induced AC voltage, AC fault current and lightning. Over-Voltage Protectors provide the same DC isolation and protection from fault current and lightning but are not designed to address induced AC voltage.

This presentation explores:

  • Dairyland’s vast selection of decouplers and over-voltage protectors
  • How to choose the correct decoupler for your all your various applications
  • How to properly size it based on the voltage thresholds, presence of steady state AC voltage, and AC fault currents.
