What Does Wrap Around Effect Mean?

The wrap around effect refers to the result of an electrostatic charge that is generated when a coating is applied via spraying onto a metallic surface. This effect allows the coating to reach otherwise difficult to reach areas such as edges, corners and crevices, thus providing better corrosion protection.

The wrap around effect is typically observed during air spray gun applications. Air spraying is a painting technique where paint is applied to a surface via an air-pressurized spray gun. Using this method, coatings such as paint, varnish or even ink can be sprayed onto the surface with compressed air.

The air spray gun that is used in this process is composed of an air compressor, a paint receptacle and a nozzle. Pulling the trigger causes the paint to combine with the stream of compressed air, discharging the paint as fine particles or droplets.
