What Does Dehazer Mean?

A dehazer is a fuel additive which removes water from gasoline, diesel and heating fuels, protecting against corrosion and future water ingress.

It consists of special surfactant polymeric molecules comprised of flocculants and coalescents. Dehazer can also be formulated with other additives like stabilizer and detergent to provide multi-functional effects. Effective dehazer additives include quaternary ammonium salts, typically used at dose rates between 5 and 20 ppm.

Dehazers guard against filter plugging and corrosion.

A dehazer is an additive which helps to improve fuel quality and reduce haze formation in gasoline and diesel. A dehazer is not affected by polar compounds (such as alcohols) in the fuel. Dehazers are designed to facilitate the coalescence of vary small water droplets into larger droplets, which then separate from the fuel by gravity.

Dehazer treatment may occasionally be needed if the fuel becomes hazy due to the presence of finely dispersed droplets of water. Contamination with water can occur at almost any stage, as the fuel passes from the refinery and through the distribution network until it reaches the vehicle tank. It is commonly due to a comparatively higher density and viscosity, with higher levels of natural emulsifiers.

Dehazers work by breaking water micro emulsions, ensuring brightness and clarity of the product and enabling the use of strong detergents in performance oils. They also improve water tolerance of additives. Dehazers have unique and specific formulations developed to ensure effective solutions without side effects, and they contain no metals, eliminating any contribution to high-temperature corrosion during combustion.

Dehazers’ additives mix uniformly with hazy fuel either in equipment fuel tanks or in bulk fuel tank areas. This fuel additive mixes thoroughly with diesel fuel, without any agitation required. Water suspended in diesel fuel causes corrosion and malfunction of precision engine functions such as fuel injectors.
