What Does
Polyester Mean?
Polyester refers to a synthetic substance made up of ester and polymer units interlinked molecularly. Some corrosion prevention coatings, fibers and glass-fiber compounds are manufactured from polyester. It is primarily composed of an ester, a dihydric alcohol and a terephthalic acid.
Corrosionpedia Explains Polyester
Due to the durable nature of polyester, it is very effective in protecting metal surfaces against corrosion when applied correctly. The presence of several tightly linked chains on the molecular level make it difficult for corrosion-inducing elements to contact the metal surface to be protected. Polyester can be designed to varying degrees of strength, resistance and hydrophobicity to suit most preventive applications.
