What Does Intensiostatic Mean?
Intensiostatic is a polarization technique, like galvanostatic or potentiostatic, to measure rate of corrosion and electrochemical reactions.
In intensiostatic polarization, the current density is varied at will while the electrode potential is measured.
Though polarization curves may be obtained either by the intensiostatic method or by the potentiostatic method, intensiostatic are the most widely used electrochemical methods for study of polarization.

The intensiostatic polarization technique setup uses a source of controlled current in the system and measures voltage or potential as a response. This applies even when imposed current is time-dependent and the corresponding experiments are said to be potentiometry - in this case, current is imposed and the voltage is measured in the systems. When the voltage is imposed at the system's terminals, then it refers to a potentiostatic setup: in this case, the voltage between system's terminals is imposed and current passing through is measured.
In intensiostatic setup, the current intensity passing through the electrode is imposed. In intensiostatic mode, the potential suddenly jumps toward a value where a new redox reaction occurs. Both intensiostatic and potentiostatic can be used in extraction analysis of electrolytes. Extraction analysis can be done either at constant current or at constant potential.
For example, at constant current (intensiostatic electrolysis), low intensities are preferable but the cathode potential must be controlled in such a way that the precipitation of pure lanthanides (Ln) can be prevented to eliminate Ln elements from molten salts.
