Last updated: July 19, 2024

What Does Toeboard Mean?

A toeboard is a piece of equipment used to ensure safety on a construction site. It is typically installed in a vertical direction to prevent equipment, materials or workers from falling to a lower level. Consequently, toeboards provide falling object protection and contribute to providing a safe working environment. Corrosion of a toeboard would prove to be a safety hazard.

Corrosionpedia Explains Toeboard

Toeboards are typically used along the exposed open sides or the floor openings where workers are performing an installation task on a roof or high on the wall of a building while standing on a platform. Toeboards are used on the exposed side to prevent any hazardous heavy equipment from falling. Toeboards can also prevent a worker from slipping, and could act as the border of the platform on which the worker is standing.
