Last updated: November 3, 2017

What Does Overspray Blend Mean?

An overspray blend refers to any corrective action used to remediate the presence of a powder or fluid that does not stick to a surface while applying a coating.

Overspray blending involves the use of specially prepared overspray clay, buffers and arrestors to chemically or manually treat the affected surface.

Overspray blend may also be known as blending.

Corrosionpedia Explains Overspray Blend

Overspray blending is typically required when structures with complex geometries and configurations have been painted or sprayed with a coating. This is due to the inherent difficulty of obtaining a uniform coating in such instances. Overspray blending is required because fine dust particles can become trapped in the coating and between successive coating layers that may be applied.
